Work-Ready Pathway

The Work-ready Pathway is for those students who excelled on work experience in Key Stage 4, feel ready and confident to embark on a work placement in their chosen area two days per week, and have aspirations to get paid work or an apprenticeship when they leave. Students on the Work-Ready Pathway have a timetable consisting of :

  • Two days of core lessons (3 x Maths, 3 x English, 3 x Employability, 3 x Fitness)
  • Two days in a local work placement supported by a dedicated Job Coach
  • One day on their chosen vocational pathway with a specialist tutor (see below)

Students may choose from a range of specialist pathways, as follows :

  • Animal Care
  • Care
  • Construction
  • Hairdressing
  • Horticulture
  • Hospitality and Catering
  • Motor Vehicle
  • Painting and Decorating
  • Retail

Experience of the pathway in Key Stage 4 is an advantage but not essential. Students are normally expected to undertake travel training so that they can travel to and from both Sixth Form and their work place independently by Stagecoach bus (students can usually obtain a bursary to pay for a termly bus pass).
