Preparation for Working Life Pathway
The Preparation for Working Life Pathway is for those students who do not yet feel ready for the demands of going to work two days per week, but are committed to improving their work readiness through structured activities in work-related situations, and would like a job some time in the future. Students on the PFWL Pathway have a timetable consisting of :
- Two days of core lessons (3 x Maths, 3 x English, 2 x Communication, 2 x Fitness, 1 x PSHE, 1 x Talkabout)
- One day of Work Skills with specialist tutors
- One day of Life Skills with specialist tutors
- One day where they can either join one of the vocational pathways or attend a fully supported work placement, or access bespoke provision
Students on the PFWL Pathway do not always know what they want to pursue into the future, and the pathway aims to provide with a range of different experiences to help them make decisions about their future direction. PFWL students are not expected to travel to/from school or supported placements, except where this is an appropriate goal for the student.
