Alpha to Omega
If a pupil is struggling to make progress in reading or spelling, we aim to put in some extra support for them, which could involve referring them to our Literacy Support Team.
One of the main interventions used by the team is Alpha to Omega. The Alpha to Omega programme is a phonetic, linguistic approach to the teaching of reading, writing and spelling. It has offered vital help in teaching people with specific learning difficulties, including dyslexia.
Whilst we do not diagnose pupils with dyslexia ourselves in school, we are able to assess them to see if they would benefit from taking part in the intervention. Progress is tracked termly to ensure the intervention is having impact.
