Attendance & Absence

Parents have a legal responsibility to ensure that their child regularly attends school. Failure to fulfil this duty may result in the Local Authority taking legal action. Parents are also responsible for ensuring that their child attends school regularly, punctually, properly dressed and equipped and in a fit state to learn.

If a child is unable to attend school for any reason, or they are late attending, parents should ring the school on the first day of absence before 9.30am and on any subsequent days. They will be required to give a reason and also to indicate the likely period of absence.

Parents are encouraged not to take their child on holidays in term time.
