Into the Rainforest: Year 7’s Eden Adventure

Year 7 explore rainforest life at the Eden Project.
During the spring term, Year 7 were learning about the rainforests and the Mayan Civilisation. Having discovered the layers of the rainforests and the locations of rainforests across the world, Year 7 classes then investigated how people use the rainforest to survive. As a year group, we then took a trip to the Eden Project in Cornwall. The Eden Project has a variety of different biomes, including a rainforest biome.
Pupils had an intro session led by a tour guide and had the chance to explore the rainforest biome with their classes, seeing rainforest plants, animals, and feeling what it would be like to spend time in a rainforest. While in the biome, pupils interacted with activity stations that allowed them to learn more about people who live in areas with rainforests. All the classes were very surprised by the heat of the rainforest climate but thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the experience. It was great to see how much of their past learning they remembered. Amazing job Year 7’s!
