Exploring Leisure Time at Decoy Park with 7C

7C enjoyed a sunny afternoon exploring Decoy Park, discovering local leisure activities, and reflecting on how they spend free time.

The Summer 1 topic for Lifeskills is Leisure Time. Pupils are given the chance to share their hobbies, interests, and how they choose to spend their free time. Next, with online research, the class identified different places in the local area that they could go to during their leisure time. The first place of interest for 7C was Decoy Park in Newton Abbott. On a sunny afternoon, we were able to head out from school to the park.

Pupils investigated the features of Decoy, and noticed a playground, several nature trails, a variety of activities that required some money, a large field, and outdoor activities along the trail. Having had a chance to go to the park and explore it, we returned to school. Pupils then evaluated Decoy Park, thinking about their likes and dislikes, the features of the park, and if they would go again. It was lovely seeing pupils outdoors and enjoying themselves, and they are looking forward to going again with their grown-ups in their own leisure time (putting their learning into action!)
