Torbay Rocks! Family Geopark Fun Day

Discover Torbay’s ancient past with hands-on fun, family activities, and fascinating fossils – all for free!
We’re excited to invite families to a free, fun-filled Geopark Discovery Day this May half-term at Indigos Play and Ecology Centre in Torquay!
Taking place on Wednesday 28 May 2025, from 11.00am – 3.00pm, this special event is a chance for children and families to explore the wonders of Torbay’s UNESCO Global Geopark – one of the most fascinating and unique landscapes on Earth.
Expect a day of hands-on activities, outdoor fun, and fascinating facts about our local rocks, fossils, and ancient landforms. It’s the perfect opportunity to learn through play and enjoy the outdoors together.
What’s Happening on the Day?
There’ll be plenty to see, do and take home, including:

π§ Join a nature trail scavenger hunt

π¦ Dig up a fossil (plaster of Paris) to take home

π Make your own erupting volcano

π± Plant seeds to grow at home or in the playground

π Look for minibeasts and make one to take home

πͺ¨ Create fossil casts and learn how fossils form

πΊοΈ Take part in a time-travel treasure hunt adventure
This session is ideal for children aged 5–12, but families with younger children are also welcome. Please note that booking is essential, and children under 8 must be accompanied by a parent or carer at all times.
