National Apprenticeship Awards – Regional Winner 2020 for SME Employer
Last week Combe Pafford won the SME Employer award in the South West National Apprenticeship Awards 2020. The virtual ceremony to announce the regional winners was held on 6th November. We also were highly commended in the award for Excellence in Recruitment.
We are delighted to have been recognised for this award, as we aim to deliver a programme that not only raises the aspirations of our own students and give young people the opportunity to access a structured apprenticeship programme.
Currently we have apprentices working in Hospitality & Catering, ICT, Learning Support, Job Coaching, Administration, Animal Care and Premises.
Remembrance Day
Today, Combe Pafford School marked Remembrance Day by holding a virtual assembly looking at the impact of WW2 in our local area and also linking remembrance symbols and actions with those demonstrated during the recent lockdown period.
Whilst it is usual to gather together to observe the silence at 11am on Remembrance Day, we had to do things slightly differently this year. A live feed was shared across all classrooms to show Crystal (Year 8) read a section of the Poem ‘The Fallen’ by Robert Laurence Binyon and to hear Mr Spooner play ‘The Last Post’.
Later in the day, class 8S visited the Torquay War Memorial and laid a wreath on behalf of all at Combe Pafford School.
Thank you all for the donations for Harvest, especially during this difficult time for all of us. The donations this year were dropped off to the Homeless in Teignbridge Support (HITS) Foodbank. The HITS staff were delighted to see us and gave us a huge ‘thank you’. Well done to 7D for taking action in the community and being responsible for the collection and donation.
