Personal Development Curriculum

At Combe Pafford School we recognise the need for our pupils to receive an enhanced Personal Development curriculum. Our curriculum allows for the additional vulnerabilities that our pupils will face in the wider world. Our vision will enable them to become healthy, independent and responsible members of society. The learning is focused to help pupils understand how they are developing both personally and socially. We provide all of our pupils with opportunities to learn about rights and responsibilities and appreciate what it means to be a member of a diverse society. Our pupils are encouraged to develop their sense of self-worth by playing a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community by becoming respectful, kind individuals.

The curriculum intends:

  • To provide our pupils the opportunity to develop key skills and understanding within PSHE, RSE and Life skills for their future.
  • To safeguard all of our pupils by giving them awareness of the ever changing world.
  • To develop individual pupils characteristics for their future.
  • To offer pupils a range of learning opportunities that enhance their communication skills and teamwork.

Benefits to pupils (Impact):

Through our Personal Development curriculum we intend for pupils to have the understanding of how to be safe both within the home and their community. We will provide them with skills needed to become as independent as possible. Pupils will leave us with an understanding of how to safely live and be successful in the wider world.
