Former Sixth Form student secures contract
Brioney Waldron, who left the Sixth Form in June after a very busy final year, has secured a 12-hour contract at the Palace Hotel in Paignton following a long stint of casual paid work. Having done such a fantastic job in the restaurant there as a waitress for her work placement, it wasn’t long before she was being called to come in and do paid work.
Brioney has been so successful and reliable at what she does that she has been rewarded with the contract, although she generally averages around 20-25 hours of work a week! This is in addition to attending South Devon College on a Level 3 Art course which was always her long-term dream. Brioney remains one of our brightest successes in recent years, having visited China and taken part in the Lessons from Auschwitz project in Poland last year which involved visiting the Auschwitz and Birkenau concentration camps with students from other sixth forms in the South West.
More recently, she distinguished herself by completing the Three Peaks of Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis with a large team from Winners Gym, helping to raise over £15,000 for Rowcroft Hospice. Prior to switching to the hospitality trade, she had also successfully completed the Sainsbury’s in-house training, working in one of their local stores.
