Head of Governors: Mr M. Griffiths
"Combe Pafford is a good successful school. Some aspects of its work are outstanding. Parents show overwhelming support for the school and comments such as "I never thought my child would do as well as he has done" are common. The links with parents and other partners with which the school has contact are an exceptional feature of its work."
At Combe Pafford School we value all pupils equally. We have very clear aims to which all staff and governors are committed. Pupils will find our school caring and supportive, in both academic tasks and in areas of emotional health and well being where tasks are stimulating and presented to them at their individual level.
The significant majority of pupils go on to meaningful further education, employment or training in South Devon and beyond.
In addition to a highly experienced and committed team of staff, we have three
designated autistic bases for Key Stages 2 - 4, led by an Advanced
Skills Teacher who also undertakes outreach work with local schools. A
Pastoral Support Coordinator liaises with parents and other agencies,
and manages a small team of assistants to support pupils with
particular difficulties.
In 2003 the school buildings were totally refurbished at a cost of £3.8 million. This has provided up to date facilities for the teaching of all curriculum subjects including science labs, ICT suites, art studio, food and textiles.
In September 2007 Combe Pafford was designated as one of the few special schools in the UK with Business and Enterprise as a specialism, and subsequently changed its name to Combe Pafford Business and Enterprise School. The new status was the result of a deliberate strategy to capitalise on the school's fine work over a long period of time with Key Stage 4 pupils in the sphere of work-related learning, particularly business links, enterprise activities and work experience.
