Hospitality & Catering Curriculum Intent

At Combe Pafford School, our aim is to teach a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum designed to bring out the best in everyone. We offer rich and varied learning experiences and encourage our pupils to make well-informed choices. We work to ensure all pupils have access to a supportive, rich learning environment that provides pupils with the necessary incremental learning steps to build resilience and work-ready skills.

Our intention is to provide our pupils with a foundation of knowledge and skills in the Hospitality and Catering  industry, increasing their awareness of a range of roles within the industry, supporting their onward journey to higher education and ultimately into the hospitality and catering job market.   This qualification will be delivered around a range of hospitality and catering skills, giving our pupils a better chance of employment if they choose to enter this job area. We intend to keep the qualification fluid by observing current trends in the hospitality and catering job market and choosing content to support current needs where this data is available.

Implementation

This qualification will be delivered by a specialist tutor in our own industry standard kitchen and public café.  Pupils will be supported in working to their own strengths throughout a range of relevant hospitality and catering units and they will be assessed using a range of assessment methods to ensure that they have the best possible chance to succeed.  Pupils will be given opportunities to develop individual skills and personal confidence with using the various kitchen appliances, kitchen utensils and techniques featured within the units of study.  Alongside this, pupils will learn to appreciate the need for effective health and safety procedures for busy working kitchen and hospitality area.

Impact
