COMBE PAFFORD SCHOOL AWARDED FOR THEIR HEALTHY FOOD ACHIEVEMENTS

Combe Pafford School has been awarded the Food for Life Bronze award for its healthy and climate-friendly food culture.

The school is working with Food for Life to transform the school’s food culture and that of its local community, by connecting the children with climate-friendly and healthy food.

As part of the Bronze award scheme, Combe Pafford serves seasonal school meals, 75% of which are freshly prepared by experienced school cook, Jenny Bamsey. The school also gives every pupil the opportunity to visit a farm, cook and participate in food growing activities during his or her time at school, and pupils, staff, governors and parents are involved in making improvements to the school’s menu and dining experience.

Combe Pafford also holds an annual food festival as part of the BNF national healthy eating week celebrations, and will be hosting their 3rd food festival this year on Friday 15th June.

School Nutrition Action Group lead Rhiannon Alcock says “We are incredibly proud to have been awarded the Food for Life Bronze Award in recognition of all the hard work that the SNAG team and the school; pupils, staff, governors, parents and carers, have put in to improving the health and wellbeing of our students”.
